The Telepost Company began in 1907 with a system of telegraphy invented by Patrick B. Delaney, initially operating in the midwest cities of Chicago, St. Louis, Indianapolis, and Louisville. The company charged rates for their telegraphing messages on a per word basis, with additional charges for transcribing the message onto paper and delivering it to a post office in a sealed envelope.
